Before heading out on a backcountry hunt make sure you’ve got your mind made up to complete the hunt. I know it sounds like an obvious statement but one thing you’ll definitely encounter at some point is “the mind is willing, but the flesh is weak”.

The strain of carrying a 60 pound backpack can be quite fatiguing – both on your body and on your mind. Hikers that hike the 14,000 foot peaks of Colorado experience the same thing. You’ll need to have made you mind up that you’re going to make it to the summit long before you begin to get tired. Determination it what you’ll need to carrying your forward.

A pastor of mine once said, “perseverance wins the crown”.

I’ll see you on the mountain!
