Backcountry Bowhunting

Off The Beaten Path… No Regrets

Why Hunt The Backcounty

1 min read

Why hunt the backcountry? There are many reasons to hunt where many don’t/won’t trod. No pressure from other hunters. The land is undisturbed. It’s new and adventurous. The list continues. A few months ago I posted a question/response on Facebook: Why hunt the backcountry?

My response is related to ones character. Because it’s hard. It tests your resolve. It teaches you. It highlights weaknesses. It helps reveal your character. It reveals what God has to work with. And… it takes you to places where few have ever been.

I was reading a commentary on the Book of James and read this. Warren Wiersbe says:

“Our values determine our evaluations. If we value comfort more than character, then trials will upset us. If we value the material and physical more than the spiritual, we will not be able to “count it all joy.” If we live only for the present and forget the future, then trials will make us bitter, not better. Job had the right outlook when he said, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).”

It takes you off the beaten path… no regrets.
